Your training starts with an assessment to measure your technique, strength, mobility, power, fitness, and body composition

After assessment week, the first custom four-week phase of your program starts built around your schedule, injury history and abilities

Weekly adjustments are made based on your results, lifting videos, and feedback

Every 4 weeks, a new custom 4-week phase starts that builds on the one you just completed

Long-term progress tracking is in place to make sure you are improving in key areas

Dr. Nic Gill is a professional strength and conditioning coach and consultant with huge expertise in rugby and other sports. He is the head of performance and coaching at Rugby Ready.

He is best known for his work in rugby with 25 years working in the sport. Nic has been the strength and conditioning coach for the New Zealand All Blacks since 2008, a period of international success for the team which has included over 240 Tests with nearly 200 test wins and the World Cup title in 2011 and 2015.

He continues to study and research many areas of sports science at the University of Waikato, constantly refining and evolving his philosophy for being fit and healthy and having the 'winning edge' in life and in competition.

He currently lives in Tauranga and is married with two children. Gilly loves to grow Avocados and Kiwifruit and tries to challenge himself every year with something that "gets him outta bed" to stay fit and healthy. 

Dr. Conor McNeill joined Rugby Ready in 2025 after previously working in Performance Science for the Kansas City Royals, leading several projects driving physical development across the organization.

Prior to his work in baseball, he spearheaded physical preparation and applied sport science for the New Zealand All Blacks 7s and Black Ferns 7s for major competitions, including the Olympic and Commonwealth Games and World Cup. He also served as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 194th Wing, Special Warfare, Air Force, where he optimized the operational readiness and physical performance of tactical athletes in elite military roles.

Conor has experience supporting collegiate sports programs at the University of Washington(2016), Austin Peay (2014), and TCU (2013). He has also made stops with Tianjin Judo (China), the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado, and his former American football team, Les Dauphines de Nice (France).

As an athlete, Conor was a collegiate football player and track and field thrower at Pacific Lutheran University, followed by a season of professional football overseas in France. He studied Business Administration and Sport Psychology at Pacific Lutheran University, earned a master’s degree in Health and Human Performance from Austin Peay State University, and a PhD in Health, Sport and Human Performance from the University of Waikato (NZ).

Conor resides near Seattle, Washington with his wife, Kelly, daughter, Maeve and son Miles.

Tyler Buck has been coaching full-time since 2015, working with rugby players from grassroots to the international level, as well as athletes, runners, lifters, and health clients. Bucky has a deep passion for coaching and loves to see his clients succeed both on and off the field. One of the things that sets him apart is his ability to connect with his clients, with Bucky you don’t just get a program you get a coach who is fully invested in your journey.

He played rugby from age 11-20 before he had to hang up the boots due to concussion. As a life long athlete he played rugby, basketball, soccer, jiu jitsu, long distance running, CrossFit, bobsledding and now powerlifting.

Bucky is driven to help athletes discover their strengths, build resilience, and get 1% better every day. To stay sharp, he studies daily and is mentored by two of the world’s best, Dr. Nic Gill and Sebastian Oreb.

Tyler is a certified Personal Trainer with multiple training certifications and a diploma in marketing and management.

Outside of coaching he loves spending time with his family on Vancouver Island, powerlifting, collecting comics, sipping a good coffee, and walking with his dog in nature.

  • 1-1 Coaching is suitable for youth, club level, aspiring pro’s, and professional athletes. We also work with a number of clients who play other sports OR want to be fit and healthy for life.

  • We take everything into account including your injury history, work / life balance, rugby training schedule, current physical abilities, equipment, and your goals. Every week your plan is adjusted based on your feedback and previous weeks results.

  • Not at all. Our 1-1 clients live in countries across the world. You’ll receive full support through the app, video feedback, and chat access – so you can train anytime, anywhere.


  • If you are willing to work hard, be consistent and coachable, you can reach levels you didn’t think were possible. We have helped athletes make youth rep teams, start for 1XV at school, earn pro-contracts, return to semi-pro rugby post-childbirth, and earn international selection.

  • 1-1 Coaching is not a one-size-fits-all template delivered to thousands of people. It’s a fully personalized program delivered by one of our expert coaches. Your coach will assess your strengths and weaknesses, and then work alongside you to create a custom program to achieve your rugby goals

  • We match you with the coach that is most suitable for you based on your communication style, intake form, and goals. Some coaches may not have open spaces at the time of your registration.

  • You will speak to your coach often through the week. You have the ability to message any weekday with a 24-hour response time, receive weekly training overview videos where your coach will review your plan and give you specific feedback, and if you are on the gold plan a monthly 1-1 call with your coach. You will never go a week without hearing from your coach.

    You also have access to our twice monthly group coaching calls and Q&A’s with Gilly and Kat Darry

  • Gilly has a select few 1-1 coaching spaces open and is available during live members only Q&A’s.

  • The first week of your program is an assessment week to establish your baseline physical abilities. Throughout the year when appropriate certain tests may be used such as a bronco, 20m sprint, etc. Testing will be dependant upon your training level, goals, and abilities.

  • First, you need to see a sports therapist to be assessed. Ask them to provide guidance on the type of training you can and can’t do and then advise your coach. We will be able to provide guidance on modifying your training so you can continue to train in a way that aligns with your physiotherapist’s guidelines.

  • Anytime you refer a new 1-1 coaching client you receive 4 weeks of free training. There any no limits on referals.

  • There is a minimum 6-month commitment for 1-1 coaching with Gilly.

    There are no time commitments or contracts on our silver or gold plan.
